Our Mission

The Sower’s Academy partners with Christian homeschool families to instill in its students a deeply rooted faith in Christ, an enduring love of learning, and lifelong joy in relationship to Christ and others as they pursue God’s calling for life.

Core Values

Truth. Wonder.
Joy. Relationship.

The Sower’s Academy seeks to be an educational community that cultivates truth, wonder, joy and relationship among its students and families by its dedication and pursuit of Biblical truth, a commitment to holistic and Christ-centered education, and the structuring of its programs to prioritize family relationships and church involvement.

The parable of the Sower (Luke 8:5-15)

While not speaking of human institutions, the Parable of the Sower teaches us a key principle for better understanding the role of our program, The Sower’s Academy, and what we believe our purpose and calling is within the Christian homeschool community. From this parable, we see the Sower, Jesus, sowing seed—the word of God— into a variety of ground conditions. When the Spirit sows the word of God into “good soil”, or ground that is cultivated to receive it, it returns a hundred-fold harvest of spiritual fruit. The good ground portrays the one who hears, understands, and receives the Word—and then allows the Word to accomplish its result (salvation) in a person’s life. We recognize the vital role education plays in cultivating “good soil” within the heart of a child. Without the right conditions, we can never expect to receive a harvest—the blessing of spiritual fruit—which is our evidence of salvation in Christ(Matthew 3:8; 7:15-20.) Personally, my greatest hope for my children’s education is the steady cultivation of deep, rich lives where the gospel can take root and flourish. However, in the daily, frenetic hurry of most of our family’s modern lives, this is rarely a possibility. My role as a Christian parent and educator is to responsibly steward my child’s time and energies to create the necessary conditions for spiritual growth. This cannot be accomplished through participation in an educational program like ours alone, but rather begins within the home and church, and is supplemented and supported by a Christ-centered, schooling community. The Sower’s Academy began out of a desire to support the efforts of Christian families seeking to live according to God’s plan for their family. We desire to offer educational enrichment via a homeschool instructional model that is holistic and nature-based, child-centered, engaging, academically sound, and distinctly Christian. Families will receive the benefit of a semi-structured, three-day-a-week program that supplements and supports a child’s homeschool education, while additionally providing time and opportunity for families to connect to the more important institutions in life—their family, home and church communities. The Sower’s Academy desires to recover what is often lost in today’s traditional school environment: a love and joy for learning; the presence of Christian covenant community and relationships; and the time and flexibility necessary for living a life that cultivates spiritual fruit in our children and ourselves. As a first-year program, we have a lot of learning and growing ahead, but we wholeheartedly believe in the work God is doing through us. Do we have the power to make a seed grow or to “make” our children loyal to Christ? Absolutely not. Nor do we have the power to make all things matter eternally. However, we serve a God who does exactly those things! At the Sower’s Academy, it is God’s great mercy to us, and our calling and purpose, to use the ‘seeds’ God has given us, put them in the fertile ground of our children’s hearts, and entrust Him to give the growth and increase. We would welcome the opportunity to meet you and your family, link arms in your child’s learning, and expectantly wait to see God’s beautiful harvest. May the soil of our school ever strengthen our children’s gospel roots, and would the seeds planted sow a harvest of righteousness that brings glory to God!

He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in season; and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. Psalm 1:3
